SCIENCE CHAPTER 7

Control and Coordination

Detailed SEBA Class 10 Science notes on the nervous system, reflex action, and the role of hormones in human and plant coordination.

The Nervous System and Hormones

Control and coordination in living organisms are achieved through the nervous system and chemical substances called hormones. In humans, the nervous system and the endocrine system work together to respond to internal and external stimuli.

Important Topics for HSLC 2027

  • The Human Brain: Structure and functions of the forebrain, midbrain, and hindbrain.
  • Reflex Action and Reflex Arc: Automatic responses to stimuli and the neural pathway involved.
  • Coordination in Plants: Movements due to growth (tropisms) and immediate responses to stimuli.
  • Plant Hormones: Auxins, Gibberellins, Cytokinins, and Abscisic acid.
  • Hormones in Animals: Endocrine glands and the role of hormones like adrenaline, insulin, and thyroxine.

Chapter-wise Question Answer

Prepare these Class 10 Science solutions for your board exams:

Q1: What is a synapse?

Ans: The microscopic gap between two adjacent neurons through which nerve impulses pass.

Q2: Name the plant hormone which inhibits growth.

Ans: Abscisic acid.
